Taking good notes will be vital skill in any profession, and it is the key to success in many advanced courses. It helps your brain to synthesize and remember information, and it also makes reviewing information quicker and more effective. Teachers in most advanced courses will require written notes for reading assignments, so doing this well will make your reading go faster and you'll also retain more information.
There are two basic parts to taking efficient notes:
1) Make the process as efficient, effective, and painless as possible
2) Make your notes as useful as possible so you can review them quickly later.
Following that line of thinking, my tips for students fall into these two general categories. I'll elaborate on each tip in future posts and try to show some examples of how to make note-taking HELPFUL instead of a chore.
